"I feel like I'm really starting to hit my stride," she says. Her post-workout lunches and dinners would consist of a fist-sized portion of protein, another fist of slow carbs, and two fists of veggies, with one three cheat meals allowed per 20 meals.Īs the challenge continues, Lexie finds her endurance in the workouts improves and she is able to complete her cardio without needing to take a break. Each day starts with three eggs and a fist-sized serving of vegetables, followed by 20 grams of protein in a shake and a workout. In addition to the grueling fitness plan, Lexie also adopts Vikander's strict Tomb Raider diet, which involves cutting out all dairy, sugar, and processed foods. "Working out is a challenge, but I discovered that my nutrition routine is the real key to building muscle," she says. "It's a complete lifestyle change for me so far, but I'm feeling very empowered to make it through the rest of the training," she says. She soon finds, however, that biggest and most surprising challenge that arises over the first couple of weeks is eating enough food to sustain the muscle growth she has planned. The first three days of workouts are exhausting, and Lexie admits she can "barely make it through this without taking a break" as she isn't used to doing so much hard cardio. She then uses the principles she learned in her session with Lygdback, along with workout guidance from his app, to continue training for three days at a time, with one rest day in between. "I tried to play it cool, but this was by far the most challenging workout of my life," says Lexie. Lygdback explains that he and Vikander used a combination of HIIT workouts and strength weights training to hone Lara Croft's lean, strong physique, and he takes Lexie through a demonstration of the different exercises in the program, including an assault bike, lunges, goblet squats, dumbbell flys, and ice skaters. Lexie reaches out to Magnus Lygdback, the Hollywood trainer who helped Vikander gain 12 pounds of muscle in just three months while preparing for the physically demanding role, and who has also worked with James McAvoy and Ben Affleck to transform their bodies for movies. But yeah, I'm excited to read scripts and hope that it's something that we'll find a way to make.Access exclusive muscle-building workouts and weight loss diets with our digital membership program. "And so, I can't say anything, because like you said, COVID kind of put everything just up in the air. She's extremely hardworking," Vikander said at the time. While Vikander recently bringing her first child with husband Michael Fassbender into the world earlier this year may have had a small bearing on the progress of the sequel, the Covid pandemic has obviously played a huge part in holding back the talks for the new movie, something that The Green Knight star alluded to in an interview with back in July. I'm hoping that we get on track and get to do something together." Lexie takes a DEXA scan before and after the challenge, and is able to conclude that over 45 days, she gained 6.1 pounds of muscle, and lost 4.9 pounds of body fat. In an interview with Total Film, star Alicia Vikander talked about her enthusiasm for the video game sequel, as well as its progress. I get to talk about big action set pieces and stunts that we want to make. The sequel to 2018s Tomb Raider is still being worked on and its star is still just as enthusiastic about the upcoming project, despite filming delays brought about by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It's so much fun on the Zooms I've had with Misha to finally sit with another woman my own age. "When Misha was mentioned to me and I saw the work on Lovecraft Country, I was extremely impressed. "When the studio first said they were interested in a sequel, I got really excited," Vikander said.
